Inventory Tab

The inventory tab of the Farms section contains all of the inventory items for the farm filtered by production year.  You can change the production year either by typing in the year into the year spinner or use the up and down arrows.

To add a row of inventory to the current farm, simply click the add button on the toolbar.  This will create a new, blank row at the bottom of the list.  You may also notice that when you click the add button, we clear the current production year filter so you will see all inventory records for this farm.  As soon as you save, the production year filter will be reapplied to the inventory records so that you are only seeing those records for the entered year.  The inventory code is a user defined unique code.  The inventory location is a drop down field that contains the items configured in the Setup, Master Data Code, Location section of MGR.  The production year is the production year for the inventory record, and the enterprise is a drop down field that contains the enterprises for this farm.  The combination of Inventory Code, Inventory Location, and Production Year must be unique for each inventory record entered.

Next enter the description, owner percentages, and acres harvested.  The yield and percent sold fields are read-only, calculated fields.  The yield is calculated by dividing the beginning marketing units by the acres harvested, and the percent sold is calculated by adding the sold marking units and calculated, dividing the sold marketing units by that sum, and multiplying the number by one hundred.  Next you’ll enter the beginning number of marketing units (This is the total beginning inventory) and the beginning unit value (the price at that time).  Once both values are entered, the market value will automatically calculate.  The market value is the beginning marketing units times the unit value.

The adjusted group is read-only, and tracks all inventory adjustments made through general journal transactions.  The sold group is also read-only and tracks all inventory sold through receipt transactions.  The calculated group is read-only as well, and uses the information from the first three groups to populate its fields.  The calculated marketing units is calculated by adding the beginning and adjusted marketing units and subtracting the sold marketing units.  The calculated amount is then calculated by multiplying the calculated marketing units by the beginning unit value.  The measured group allows users to input the actual measured amount of marketing or production units, and then the amount is calculated by multiplying the units by the beginning unit value.

To delete an inventory record on a farm, click the delete button on the toolbar.  You will only be able to delete those inventory records that are not tied to a transaction.
